If your reading this then the word is out, I have gone and planned my very first event. If I'm completely honest it was a tiny dream of mine to host an event, but not in my wildest dreams did I really think I would do it. After having Olive I decided to get serious about my 'dreams' because if we don't chase them how will we know?! So here it goes...Introducing, Mama meet & Market.
'Mama meet & Market' is a family event with a difference, a child friendly shopping event with the opportunity to socialize and meet other mums.
There has been so many times when visiting events or markets to shop small businesses that I have not been able to fully enjoy myself due to 'child' restrictions, leaving them behind is always an option and one I often have to do but that's not always an option for most. It had me thinking what If I didn't have too, what If there was a way to still attend with the family in tow. What would I have to provide to keep the children entertained? Would there be a way to create a shopping event that doubled up as a family day out too? Now don't ask the Dads that as I know they will highly doubt that I can combine the two. The event would need play elements, be buggy friendly, have refreshments, be visually pleasing through the eyes of the children to ensure us Mamas don't have to try so damn hard. Is that too much to ask? I hope not, and I'm sure as hell going to give it ago.
Now that's the children sorted, what about us? I'm going to be realistic (and this may not apply to all) Since having Oakley my love of shopping has done a U-turn! Long gone are the days of spending my hard earned (Maternity pay) cash on myself, long gone are shopping sprees, new seasonal wardrobes and expensive face creams. Call me sad but I'm OBSESSED with children's clothing & gifts, it was a whole new world being opened up to me when I started shopping through Instagram stores and small online businesses. The plan for my event is to source a variety of local sellers, all with unique products that are not widely sold, and then bring them too you all under one roof. No postage costs, not 21 tabs open online just 21 amazing brands in-front of your eyes. At the event you can shop...

Toddler Sense Derby's leading sensory play group will be providing an exciting set up for children under 5. A chance for them to discover their senses, play freely and meet new friends. Located less than 1 minute walk from the market hall, parents can escape the hustle and bustle to keep the little ones happy.
Take a break in the tea room with cakes and cookies, Makeney Halls bar will provide liquid refreshments of all kinds. Seating will be provided so that you can rest your feet and chat to other mamas. Some of which you may already 'know' through the wonderful world of Instagram. For me there's nothing better than connecting with other like minded mums, Motherhood can be a lonely place, reach out to someone and step out of your comfort zone you may end up with not only a slice of cake but a brand new friend.
Event is taking place at the stunning, Makeney Hall and Hotel, Belper. There is afternoon tea appointments available by calling (here) in advance, although booking is not necessarily required please do so to avoid dissapointment.
Doors open at 11am and close at 3pm, the first 30 children through the doors will receive an exciting goodie bag. Goodie bag information will be revealed closer to the time.
